Running a successful event This section of the resource pack contains information on various aspects of running an event. These do not constitute a 'How To' guide, but provide guidance on various aspects of organising an event, from working on obesity issues in primary care to securing successful media coverage for your event. Details of further sources of guidance are provided at the bottom of the page.
1. Managing Obesity in Primary Care The National Obesity Forum have produced an interactive learning resource, on CD-ROM. The resource is a essential guide to practitioners, by clicking on the link above, you will be able to find out more information about the resource as well as details on how to order a copy. They have also produced some guidelines for Guidelines for Management of Adult Obesity and Overweight in Primary Care, which are available by clicking on the link below While they have developed a second set of guidelines for the Management of Childhood Obesity and Overweight in Primary Care: 2. Clinical Guidelines from the United States These Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults are from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, United States. Around 97 million adults in the United States are overweight or obese. This link will take you to NHLBI homepage, and requires internet access. 3. NMHW2005 Directory of Events in Scotland The link above contains all the responses from our efforts to find out what is being planned prior to NMHW itself. The entries provide an important resource as to what is happening in each area of Scotland. This also enables networking and support at a local level, as well as being vital PR resource, enabling the media to identify key activity at local and regional levels.
