The aims of the conference:
Building on the success of our 2004 National Conference, the 2006 event provided a forum to present and explore key developments in research, policy and practice in men’s health in Scotland.
Our key aims were:
- To continue to raise awareness of men’s health in all its diversity
- To increase the capacity of practitioners to engage effectively with men’s health issues and programmes of work
- To influence policy makers at a local and national level to help ensure the inclusion of gender issues in the design and delivery of services
In order to meet these aims we planned an event which focussed on three main strands:
- Current and emerging research
- Good practice and innovative work
- Policy development and priorities for the future
By exploring new developments in each of these areas through a combination of presentations and discussion, it was hoped that the day would provide a significant opportunity to impact upon the scope and effectiveness of work carried out in Scotland to improve men’s health.
Delegates also had an opportunity to discuss and endorse the Men's Health Forum Scotland strategic policy framework, which will govern our main areas ofactivity over the coming five years.
