National Men's Health Week
National Men's Health Week 2007
National Men's Health Week (NMHW) runs each year in the week leading up to Father's Day. It's main focus is to raise the profile of men's health and to highlight issues relating to men's health. The theme this year is:
"Men and Long Term Medical Conditions" and runs between 11th June - 17th June.
Many men are at risk of developing a condition because of risk-taking lifestyles and delays in diagnosis due to men's late presentation to health services. Ideas of what it means to be a man can be a key risk factor for many men when taking appropriate care of themselves and accessing support services once they have been diagnosed.
Men in Scotland are affected by a wide range of long-term conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, Alzheimers, HIV, hepatitis C, long-term mental health problems and many more.
You can download the newsletter below which gives you some information about National Men's Health Week, links to various charities/organisations who deal with long-term medical conditions and events that are taking place across Scotland.
NB: Some of the events taking place across Scotland did not make the published newsletter - you can view all events on-line in the link below:

During National Men's Health Week we are delighted to bring you our second 10K for Men in Scotland. The event will bring together men from across Scotland and beyond to take part in what we hope is becoming a major annual date for both men's health and running in Scotland. Building on the success of last year's event, we have an even bigger and better event planned for Father's Day 2007.
Click on the logo above and it will take you to all the information about the 10K for Men. Registration closes Wednesday 13th June 2007.
